Hometown Battle of the Bands Event in memory of Tova Streett

Festival Beshekel believes that the sounds and voices coming from the periphery, created as they are in a different social context and cultural background, are inherently different from those of the mainstream, and bring an authentic, original and innovative quality to the emerging Israeli sound. Therefore, at every event two to four local artists perform on the same stage and with the same facilities as the better known and more established artists.

The local bands/artists that appear in the festivals are chosen by artists from Festival Beshekel`s advisory committee of artists (which includes 17 Israeli musicians, authors and actors) in a "Hometown Battle of the Bands" event.

Lead and produced by the cultural leadership group, this event brings together 10-13 local bands / artists. The youth from the local cultural leadership group are incharge of all the production stages from finding the local artists to marketing and P.R.

The local artists, who were chosen at the Home Town Battle of the Bands events, will receive a long-term musical production workshop and professional master classes in the fields of: composition, lyrics writing, stage poise, musical business management and musical production. These seminars will be held by established artists and some of them will be open to the pablic
